Opening Comments:  Welcome back all, this episode is as simple as it gets, its about life. So what you will be hearing from these non speaking autistic individuals for the next 7 minutes shouldn’t surprise you, however, if you are surprised perhaps it’s because the way in which they carefully choose each word, or its the depth of each sentence, or perhaps its the emotion behind the writing.  As a reminder, for many of these individuals this methodology of communicating is very infrequent and has yet to be accepted in our schools across the country, with the exception of a few outlyers.

A quick fact before we get to the writings, here we are in May  2025 in a recent article coming from Reuters stating they analyzed nearly 300k projects funded by the NIH (National Institute of Health) since 2021 to identify autism research for its review. The agency has funded about 4,600 autism related projects since 2021, with an annual average of $525 million over the past 4 years. Onto our writings. (1:30)

First up is Danny Costello who unfortunately recently lost the life a very close family member and working with his CP Kyle in April of this year he taps one letter at a time, the following:

With love we can get through anything.

Life is precious.

Know grief starts with wanting love we lost.

Slowly realizing that love looks different now.

We know talking to them makes the love move.

We find strength holding them close.

Watching over us, they give us hope.

Love is remembering the laughter we shared.

Learning to find new ways to connect to them.

Since they went away, hurt fills our hearts.

Remembering that they are still with us, we are never alone.

Close to angels now.

Slowly hurt gets easier to live with.

Keep holding each other close.

With our hearts full of love, the pain that we learned to hold

makes us grateful for the love we shared.

Love never goes away. (3:02)

 Thanks Danny

Next is Jake, and he writes a note to his mom for mothers day. And I think its fair to say a simple fact of life is we don’t exist without moms. You may recall Jake, he has only been tapping one letter at a time for just a few years and he’s in his twenties. His note as follows:

So much to say to my nice and loving mom. Very much the prettiest inside and out. Rising to the highest vision of how moms should be. Very thankful to have you as my mom. Love your son, Jake. (3:46)

Thanks Jake

Next is my son Richie and he celebrates a life as he became an uncle for the very first time, and tapping one letter at a time while working with CP Kyle he writes:

Rosie, all of us are over the moon with joy that you are our new baby girl. From the second you were born we already loved you. As you grow up you will come to learn how first in our family we always take care of each other and we will always be here for you. A world of joy and love is waiting for you. Welcome to our family. Love your Uncle Richie. (4:36)

Thanks Richie

Next up is Anna, and it is safe to say that our survival on earth is dependent upon the life of trees. Anna writes a poem titled “Never Tree”, taping one letter at a time while working with her CP Laura she writes the following:

Get Never. All freedom is Never owning anything. Just Love is the answer. The answer lies in the Garden. The Tree is house and shelter to all living creatures. Never owning her debt is her life, expecting nothing in return. Like it or leave it she never expects anything. Enter the hole. What is hole? It is inside the tree where more life continues to develop because it never learned Never. “Keep it simple, I Never” (5:37)

Thanks Anna.

We’ll finish with Alan Bruce Alexander, who you may recall didn’t start communicating in his life until he was in his 40’s. Now in his 50’s, He taps one letter at a time the following poem.

Before stars the sky was dark, Even the moon was black.

Each night singing rays of sun would reach for the heavens.

Sometimes halos of sun Got stuck in the night sky.

They began to shine. The stars lit the sky Creating diamonds of sparkling light.

Dark times will come and go, But never forget,

Brighter days are on the way. The stars will shine again.

Thanks Alan (6:33)

Closing comment: In closing, I believe it’s apparent these individuals are not only smart and intelligent, but they have a keen perspective understanding the essentials of life. It’s really that simple. That’s it, till next time. (8:38)
